THOMAS Vowles was born about 1784 place unknown, he married Sarah Burges May 1805 in Clifton, both were of the parish. Thomas died July 1833 at Cottage Court, Clifton, Bristol. Thomas and Sarah had 4 children.
EDWARD Vowles was born about 1808, not sure where but probably Westbury on Trym, Gloucestershire. Edward married Elizabeth Vowles May 1823 in Bristol. Edward was a shoemaker and died at Shewrings Court, Clifton in December1838, they had 5 children.
ELIZA Vowles was born in Westbury on Trym in 1809, she married John Roberts July 1832, they had 5 children.
ELIZABETH Vowles was born in Jacobs Wells, Bristol in September 1827 she married John Bolitho August 1852, he was a ships carpenter, he was a bit of a bad lad and had quite a few spells in prison one for ten years. Before he embarked on his life of crime (at least the spells of prison we know about) he and Elizabeth had 6 children. Elizabeth died July 1877 in the Royal Infirmary, Bristol.
EDWARD Vowles born October 1831 in Clifton, Bristol. He married 1st Clara Ann Dodge December 1855 in Lambeth, London. Edward was a gas fitter and he and Clara had 5 children. He died November 1892 in St. Olave, London. Three years after Clara died he married Emma Hayward in St. John's, Waterloo Rd, London., she was born in Clifton, Bristol. They did not have any children.
EDWARD DODGE Vowles born September 1857 in Christchurch, St Saviour, Surrey, he married Maria Elizabeth Eddy April 1879 in Waterloo Rd, London, there is no trace of any children. He met Elizabeth Gambell, no sign of a marriage , but a child was born in 1898, a daughter called Clara.
FREDERICK William Vowles was born March 1879 in Christchurch, Surrey. He married Elizabeth Rankin in Mar 1879 in Lambeth, they had 1 child Henry Victor.

     

             HENRY RICHARD VOWLES

 

HENRY RICHARD Vowles was born in January 1861 in St. Saviour, he became totally blind at 3 weeks old and was put into a home for the blind to live. He was taught to play a number of musical instruments, but his main asset was his fine tenor voice.  Harry moved to Brighton in 1882. To earn his living he sang in the big houses around Brighton, and entertained  in local hotels including The Ship Hotel. He was a regular performer in the music halls and had a pitch on the Brighton/Hove border where the Angel of Peace statue now stands.  Henry died February 1919.

HENRY RICHARD Vowles and ALICE VAUGHAN married February 1895 and had 9 children all born in Brighton, East Sussex. HAROLD born 1895 after WW1 he went to Trinidad to live, MILDRED ALICE born 1900, DOUGLAS born May 1901, KATHLEEN ANNIE born 1906 and died in Worthing April 1946, ARTHUR born 1908 died Australia about 1965, FRANK THOMAS born 1910 and died in Worthing January 1937, GERTRUDE born 1912 and died about 1984, LESLIE born 1914 died about 1985 and finally ELSIE born Jan 1916 married  to Albert Charles Cowell in 1962 and died October 1992.
